It’s been a long time since I’ve last blogged. So I’m going to try to bring you, my sole reader, up to speed on what is happening in my little corner of the World. I’ve been doing a lot of social media type of interfacing lately. Think of it as a quick and fast version of LinkedIn or FaceBook. But it is called Twitter, and its sole ideology is to try to allow people to convey information quickly and in rapid secession. So to see what is currently going on with me, I’ve added the tweeter latest update on the top of this webpage, or you can click on http://www.twitter.com/jeff_burmeister to see my Twitter page and quick note history.
Sheila and I’ve took a week long trip to my Parent’s cabin in northwestern Wisconsin. It was a brilliant trip. We spent a lot of time just being… No TV, No Phones, No outside influences. It was just us being ourselves and spending time forgetting about the real world. I think we’ll have to do this at least once a year. But the return to the real world took a while for me to get back into my regular routine. Oh well, isn’t that what vacations are for?
Spring has officially sprung here in Minneapolis. So that means that the Bike Racing season officially started yesterday with the first Criterium race of the year. While the spring races come fast and furiously, I’ve never been a very good Spring Chicken. So I won’t be contesting any of the Spring Season races. Besides, all of my primary goal races are in late Summer and early Fall, so I’m holding off my ramp up to racing until next month.
Under the new toys category, I am proud to say that yet another bike has found its way into our corral of cycling. The Van Dessel Drag-Strip-Courage Track bike is finally at home and is patently waiting for the Blaine Velodrome to be opened up for training. Unfortunately this bike will be stored full time at the Velodrome so it’s time in our house will be fairly limited. Also, last week I stopped by my parent’s house and picked up my old Bianchi Grizzly Mountain Bike. It was to be used by my father, but has fallen into a bit of disrepair. So I took it on a trip to the bike shop so that I could tune the suspension and slap some new pedals on. But Sheila got a chance to ride it and has decided that this bike will now by hers. Sorry Dad, I’ll see if I can get you another bike in the near future. Oh, and for those playing the home game of “The Burmeister Bike Corral” we now have 7 bikes in our little Condo.
